Rev. Fr. Jacob Kollamparampil, who was appointed in Maheshmunda, was the pioneer of Belatanr Mission. At the beginning, he is reported to have lived in a gun house in the forest, before he built a mud hut. Practically, from the scratch in 1972, he was responsible for the construction of the presbytery and hostel, later a spacious Church which was blessed in 1976. He invited the sisters of the Holy Cross to Belatanr. Rev. Fr. Jacob negotiated the purchase of the Holy Cross Sisters’ vast compound and helped them initially with the construction in 1973.
Rev. Fr. Jacob, a zealous missionary was loved by the people. He extended his service not only to Belatnar but also in Dulabihta, Garhi, Palmo, Harmatari and Tilkimaran. Sr. Edith HC was a great support for the pastoral work. In 2010, Late Rev. Fr. Scaria Kollerette, built a new church and renovated the presbytery at Belatanr. |
