Dulampur Mission is 25 kms away from Chakai Civil Block. Chakai parish is the mother church of Dulampur. Earlier priests from Chakai parish used to go to offer Holy Mass for the Catholics of Leoda and Bathuguda. There were only 16 Catholic families at that time in this area. Late Bishop Thomas Kozhimala visited this area and he found the need of starting a mission here for the development of the tribal and the backward people of this area. And some land was acquired in the initial stage with the initiative of late Bp. Thomas Kozhimala. From 2009 onwards Rev. Fr. Stephen P.K. worked tirelessly and bought sufficient land to develop this area. He brought Dr. Felicitas to Dulampur who financially supported him to build the compound wall. The Holy Cross Kottiyam Sisters joined him in pastoral activities such as helping in the school, primary health centre and in social work. The patron of Dulampur parish is St. John Mary Vianney. |
