Rev. Fr. Westropp SJ used to visit Dumria from Harimohra in early 1926’s. In the same year, he baptized many Santhals there. In 1956, TOR fathers were assigned Harimohra Parish. Staying in Harimohra, Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Mudry TOR built up Dumria. There was no motorable road, linking Dumria to the main road. Building materials were carried on bullock carts and even by the motorcycle of Rev. Fr. Tad. The church was blessed on 26th October, 1969. After Rev. Fr. Tad’s death in 1976 there was no resident Parish Priest. The Mass was celebrated by priests from Harimohra. Late Bishop Urban appointed Rev. Fr. Jose Kunnumpuram as its first parish priest in 1983. St. Ann’s sisters of Secunderabad already working in St. Joseph’s School, Bhagalpur opened their second convent in Dumria in 1984 to render their service in the parish. The new presbytery was built by Rev. Fr. Mathew Kaithara and late Bp. Thomas Kozhimala blessed it on June 24, 1994.
