The Pastoral Center of Bhagalpur Diocese was previously functioning as part of the regional minor seminary at Bhagalpur. Rev. Fr. Mani Kaipan was the Director. It was felt that pastoral centre should be in the center of the Diocese. In the year 2000, a building for Pastoral Center was constructed by Rev. Fr. Jose P. K, with the help of Misereor, in Gunghasa in the Parish of Poreyahat. The centre was initiated Bp. Thomas Kozhimala. He blessed the building and dedicated it to the faithful of the Diocese. The pastoral center and the faith formation team from Bhagalpur shifted to the newly built Community Development Center at Gunghasa. Rev. Fr. Mani expanded the facilities here by constructing more rooms. He was also appointed to take care of Siktia Mass center. Various educational, pastoral and social programme are conducted here. Marriage preparation course, retreat, youth camp, Faith formation seminars, vocation camps are some of the regular programs conducted. The Diocesan Socio-Educational apostolates, such as the BSSS and CFCA also have their various animation programs organized here. Gunghasa was raised to the status of a parish in the year 2010. Rev. Fr. Alphonse was the first parish priest.
