Poro was a sub-station of Manikbathan. Fr. Jose Kunnumpuram who was the Parish Priest of Manikbathan, acquired some land at Poro village. He built a boundary wall and DSA Sisters from Kolkata accepted the invitation to collaborate in the mission work in December, 2004. They started evangelizing the close by villages and began non-formal education centre. In May 2005, Fr. Jose Kunnumpuram was transferred to Poro. At present Poro Parish has a middle school, boarding house for the boys and girls and health centre. |
