Jesuits from Poreyahat used to visit Harimohra and other surrounding villages. In 1926, the Jesuits made a Chapel in Salaiya village and occasionally stayed there and visited as far as Nawadih in Charkapathar and Babumahal near Katoria.

In 1927, Rev. Fr. Creane SJ wrote in the Patna newsletter “For the first time since Adam”. Mass was celebrated here in Simra on 14th September 1927 (feast of Holy Cross). Simra is 12 Kms away from Salaiya. Three decades later in 1956, the first resident priest, Fr. Boniface Bonk TOR, took over Harimohra Parish. The closest village was Salaiya and the Jesuits had acquired land at Harimohra for a Parish. The Parish Priest dedicated the Parish to the “Holy Cross”. A huge cross was erected on the highest hill top next to the Parish and it is clearly visible from a far distance. Rev. Fr. Paul Kundorpilly was the tactician who raised a huge Cross on the highest hill close to Harimohra when he was here in 1981. Twice a year the Holy Cross parishners visit the hill top in Lent for the way of the Cross and on September 14th the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross.

The Parish Church was constructed by TOR priests. Rev. Fr. Jacob TOR started the construction and Rev. Fr. Antony Xalxo TOR completed it. It was blessed on 29th March 1969 by Late Bishop Urban McGarry, Bishop of Bhagalpur. The new presbytery was built at the time of Rev. Fr. Michael Kallamplackal and blessed in 1993. The Teresian Carmelite Sisters (CTC) are engaged in various pastoral activities particularly they manage a high school and a study home for the girls.
