In the 1930’s, there were Christians in villages such as Piarom and Tilabad. Jesuits from Godda were often visiting this area. In 1946, Jesuits left Godda and Franciscans took over Godda. Fr. Antony Xalxo TOR started to take real efforts in the areas of Piarom and Tilabad. Some land was acquired in Phulbaria village which was right in the centre of Piarom, Tilabad area. Fr. Antony started constructing a church and his successor Fr. Jacob Nambiaparampil TOR completed it. Baromasia, the Mother church, took care of this sub-station for the following 20 years. Fr. Gregory Kuttickal was the first Parish Priest of Phulbaria. He worked vigourously, residing in the sacristy of the church. He made a temporary room for his kitchen. After the daily Mass, the Church became the Primary School. In a record time of 18 months Fr. Gregory constructed a school building and a presbytery. The Church was blessed and dedicated to St. Antony of Padua, a fitting tribute to Rev. Fr. Antony Xalxo TOR.
