Tilkimaran was a Mass center of Maheshmunda Parish which was initially evangelised by Fr. Hans SJ and Fr. D’Moulder SJ. Until 1976, the pioneering priests, Late Fr. Jacob Kollamparampil, Late Bishop Thomas Kozhimala, the present Bishop Kurien and others were regularly visiting Tilki to offer the Holy Mass and looking after the spiritual needs of the people. Tilkimaran was one of the challenging mission stations with no approach roads and many rivers to cross during the rainy season. The first resident parish priest was Late Fr. Stanislaus Murmu TOR and Late Fr. John Hembrom was the first Diocesan Parish Priest. Palmo at Tisri was the sub-station of Tilkimaran until 1988. It was Fr. Jacob Thekkeparampil who built the new church and convent building which were blessed in 1998 by Late Bishop Thomas Kozhimala. The seed of the early missionaries sprouted and bore fruit in abundance with multitude of Catholics. Tilkimaran prospered in faith and developed in collaboration with the Sisters of the Holy Cross. |
