Dharari as a Mass centre of Belatanr was started by late Fr. Bernard Hansdak in the year 1989. Late Bishop George Saupin SJ had supported Fr. Bernard in constructing a school building with few class rooms for conducting classes and occasional stay of priest in the weekends who took care of the holy mass and other spiritual needs of the faithful of the area. The establishment of the school was a blessing for the people of Dharari and it was running well for many years with good number of children attending the school from nearby many villages. The sudden demise of Fr. Bernard Hansdak had its effects in the running of the school and its development. However the school continues to function as a primary school. Rev. Fr. Chacko Kumplanchira, Fr. Joseph Mulloor, Fr. Scaria Kollerette and Fr. Jose P. K who were parish priests of Belatanr Mission in the later years also took great interest in the spiritual needs of the people. Dharari is now bifurcated from Belatanr Parish and elevated to a Parish in 2017. It is about 20 km away from Belatanr mission and falls under Giridih district. The closest town is Rajdhanwar. The Mission has considerable number of Catholics and their spiritual needs are taken care by Fr. Sunil Tudu who is presently the administrator of Dharari.
